| One of the great
things about being pregnant is that there are so many new things to learn.
Of course, this can also be quite scary. The good news is that there
are many excellent classes one can take that cover the myriad aspects of
becoming and being a parent. We plan to deliver at the Sharp Mary
Birch Hospital for Women because they have an excellent delivery unit and
NICU (Newborn Intensive Care Unit) should we need it.
We have taken all of the
Sharp classes we could fit into our schedules, and they were all great.
One of them really stands out, both for its excellent information as well
as the fantastic instructor, and that is Prepared Childbirth with Lynn

 In
addition to many other goodies such as free parenting magazines and coupons
for diapers, parents receive a 106-page textbook and workbook that contains
much of the information presented in the class. The best part for
us was the checklist of things to include in a goody bag for labor and
in a suitcase for the recovery. |
 Most
of the class consists of lecture and demonstrations. Lynn's experience
as an L'n'D (Labor and Delivery) nurse gives her a huge store of real-life
stories to share. All of us were overflowing with questions, and
she deftly fielded all of them. One question for her... how is it
possible to nurse with your breast sitting in your lap? |
 Lynn
also has a great sense of humor and impeccable nails. |

The other inestimable benefit of taking a class like this is getting to meet other soon-to-be parents and knowing that we aren't facing this new adventure alone. The remainder of this page has pictures of some of the fun people we got to know in our class. |
